As I continue to practice the art of observation and reflection, my ability to understand my visual environment has grown in a way that provides me with a sense of amazement in what I may have previously regarded as a simple scene. The color of the light in the snow, the highlight, and the way the mid tones tie it together, it's all just stunning, and I'm filled with a similar sense of awe almost every time that I paint. This has taken time to build up, as I was previously more destracted by the process of painting or whatever was in my head that day. But growing as a painter has lead me to learn to free myself of those distractions, more greatly immersing myself in the scene, and more closely observing and reflecting. Painting can be such a wonderful practice.
