 Transcendence is the act of rising above something to a elevated state, or the ability to go beyond usual limits… in this plein air from yesterday, this tree feels more then what we may describe as “just a tree”, it’s a tree on a busy street that we often drive by without giving it much thought. But it really is so much more. I am starting a series called “Transcendence “ which includes altering my process to consider transcendence in my observations and transferring that feeling to my subject matter. ..showing that the everyday can be extraordinary can be difficult to pull off.. I know for myself, this concept has been in the back of my mind, and I’ve even pulled off showing this in some previous paintings, but my hope is that through acknowledging that my aim is displaying transcendence in my paintings, the sentiment of transcendence will be heightened within the viewer of these works.
