There really is no other process that beats painting quickly and directly from life. I love this small study that I made this morning just as the sun was touching this house across the street from me. When I started the light was just hitting the top of the roof, and when I finished, light had taken over the whole house, it’s a challenge to capture brief moments of light and shadow but when it works, this process produces some of my favorite paintings. #painting #pleinair #winterlight
